What Do I 'Do'?

After over ten years of 'Actively Seeking Work' (for any value of 'actively' between 'frantically' and 'avoiding' I find myself in the odd position of having a full time permanent job at Children in Scotland. I've been there four years now, and I still find it odd. For further information see my out of date CV.

What Else Do I Do?

I am a burnt out bisexual activist. I used to be editor of the UK bisexual newsletter Bifrost, and you can find some of my writing from that time on these pages. Other old projects include a fetish club called Permission, being foolish enough to voluntarily run BiCon99, in Edinburgh, and help with BiCon 2002 in Leicester, and the now defunct Bisexual Archive. In my spare time I sometimes write short stories and have the obligatory partially finished novel in a drawer.

I hardly ever read news just now, but I have found that carefully selected mailing lists can provide many of the same pleasures with less of the noise. I recommend LordPeter for fans of Dorothy L. Sayers' aristocratic detective, and uk-bi for (imaginatively) bisexuality in the UK.

Comics Subscribed To

The Invisibles being ended I feel less of an urge to get my comics the day they come out. These days I just I read my flatmate Sandy's copies of Lucifer and The Authority.

Appearance

Short, fat, opinionated, and with facial piercings, even though my hair is now in a stylish red bob. Once upon a time I actually looked not unlike the picture on this page, except for the ears. People have occasionally asked me why there aren't any photos of me up here. The short answer is that I was oddly shy and found every photo of me after about 1986 too unflattering (or too accurate). Only recently have I lost some weight and got my hair right, so now I'm happy to put up a few carefully selected shots. I firmly believe that having my photo taken will erode what little soul I have left, but sod it. There are also some earlier photos of me here, one on the SFSoc Yearbook page, and one of me when I was good.
